Marilyn Davis Cullen (b. Akron, Ohio) grew up in Washington D.C. where she had vast opportunities to pursue her interest in impressionist art. Marriage and raising a family put off her dream of painting for a time. She continued her artistic interest when she moved to California in 1975 but not until retirement was just ahead did she decide to pursue her art career. She enrolled in classes at the Jean Henry School of Art, San Francisco Community College and College of Marin. She has also studied privately with William Reese, Chester Arnold, Pat Bridenbaugh, Pam Glover, Stanley Goldstein, Mel Adamson,  Randall Sexton and Patrick Korsh.

Marilyn is a plein air oil painter of landscapes portraying her impressions of beauty and life with an expressive use of color using the canvas as her medium.  She prefers painting in the early mornings and late afternoons when the shadows cast interesting patterns and color is intensified.  She usually paints in Marin and Sonoma Counties but has also painted in Mexico, Europe and Asia.  Larger paintings are done in her studio after preliminary on-site sketches and photographs.

Her exhibitions include the Marin/Scapes Show, the Annual Falkirk Cultural Center Show and the WomanMade Gallery in Chicago, Illinois.  She has also participated in the Marin Foundation Landscape Show, Coastal Arts League of Half Moon Bay, Color & Light Exhibition in Longmont, Colorado, Marin Society of Artists, Jewish Community Center in San Rafael, Central Sierra Arts Council in Sonora, Alma Gilbert Gallery in Burlingame, Menlo Park Civic Center, Marin Civic Center, Santa Cruz Art Center, San Mateo Arts Council, Picture Perfect Gallery in Petaluma, Artisans' Gallery and St. Louis, Missouri Artist's Guild.

Marilyn is represented by the Eriksen Gallery in Half Moon Bay, California.
